Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

Has your doctor recommended that you have coronary artery bypass grafting surgery, also called CABG?

CABG surgery is the most common cardiac surgical procedure. During CABG, vascular grafts are used to bypass coronary artery blockages to ensure blood is properly delivered to the heart muscle. The coronary arteries are the blood vessels that supply the heart with oxygen and nutrients. Since your doctor believes you need surgery, it probably means that several of your coronary arteries are blocked, affecting blood flow to your heart.

Bypass grafting during CABG surgery is a rerouting of the blood flow by implanting a graft (that is a new channel for blood flow). The types of grafts used are most often the patient’s own veins or arteries. It is important to remember that the new graft (vein or artery) is a fragile living tissue. The success of CABG surgery is dependent on the performance of the graft. Treatment of the graft during surgery is extremely important to patient outcomes.

There is only one approved vascular graft treatment available throughout the world.

That vascular graft treatment is called DuraGraft®.

DuraGraft is a one-time intraoperative vascular graft treatment that maintains endothelial function and structure, thereby reducing graft failure rates and improving clinical outcomes. DuraGraft enhances CABG outcomes by significantly reducing major cardiac events such as repeat revascularization, myocardial infarction and MACE.

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

Since the success of your surgery depends on the quality of your grafts, it is critically important for your grafts to be treated with DuraGraft.

Be sure to discuss the benefits of using DuraGraft in your CABG procedure with your surgeon.
